During the financial year ending 31 July 2025, KONGTINUE CIC delivered a wide array of community integration, youth support, and cultural preservation programmes for the Hong Kong BN(O) community across the UK. Our key activities and their community impacts are as follows: LARGE-SCALE YOUTH EVENTS: We organised major social and cultural events, including a Halloween Party, a Christmas Ball, and our first-ever "Thames River Poon Choi Feast" held at the City of London School. These events successfully brought the community together, fostering a strong sense of belonging and preserving cultural heritage. Each event was attended by 80-100 young people. REGULAR YOUTH GROUPS: We hosted ongoing youth group sessions featuring activities such as board games, city hunts, and bouldering. Each session was attended by 15-30 young people, promoting physical well-being, teamwork, and regular social connection. KONGTEENUE OCAMP 2024: We organised a comprehensive summer orientation camp for 30 young adults. The camp included city hunts, detective games, social games, mass games, music performances, and interactive theatre. Recognising that many young immigrants face a "youth crisis" and struggle with identity and future development, the camp provided a crucial platform for mutual support, enabling participants to navigate these challenges together. EAST SUSSEX AND OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL COMMUNITY PROJECTS: Supported by funding from both East Sussex and Oxfordshire County Councils, we delivered vital integration services across these two regions. This included a three-part online seminar series covering university admissions, CV writing, and interview skills. We also invited council staff and UK immigration lawyers to provide expert guidance on Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and citizenship. Furthermore, we organised three-day badminton fun days to help residents build relationships and strengthen community ties through sports. KIDDING DAYCAMP (CHRISTMAS CHILDREN'S DAYCAMP): Held in Reading and Solihull, this daycamp focused on teaching younger children Cantonese, Hong Kong geography, and the current social context of Hong Kong. It effectively developed their teamwork, problem-solving skills, and empathy while maintaining a strong connection to their cultural roots.
Our stakeholders include HKBN(O) youth, children, parents, and local authorities, notably East Sussex County Council and Oxfordshire County Council. We actively engaged with these stakeholders through collaborative project planning, feedback on event participation (e.g., our youth Ocamp and Badminton Fun Days), and interactive Q&A sessions during our online seminars. This ongoing consultation ensures that our services directly address the practical needs of the newly arrived community.
