Consultation with stakeholders

The Stakeholders are young people we worked with during our workshops, and feedback came from their families and those who were closest to our projects during this period. Our main work with young people during this time was through the Tees Valley Museums/Kirkleatham Museum/Redcar and Cleveland youth service project. We had the following feedback from this project through email correspondence with : A parent of one of the young people: Dear Miki, Wade, Sadie and the Tees Zine Fest team, I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to you all for the incredible experience you have given the young people in the Skittles group over the past few weeks. The project has been such a gift. For my child, it has done more than simply introduce a new art form. It has helped build confidence in their creativity, given them space to explore and express themselves, and encouraged real self-reflection. It has been wonderful to watch them not only develop their artistic voice but also grow in their sense of identity, history and community. Learning about zine culture and creating something so personal yet collaborative has been a real highlight. It has sparked conversations at home, opened doors to new ways of thinking, and shown how creative work can be a powerful tool for connection, understanding and pride. They have loved being part of a team, learning to share and shape ideas together, and seeing their efforts come together in a beautiful exhibition. The exhibition at Kirkleatham Museum is a true celebration, not only of their work but of the young people themselves. It was so special to walk through it with them, to see their creations on the wall, and to witness the pride and excitement they felt. That moment will stay with us for a long time. Projects like this make such a difference. They show young people that their voices matter, that their stories are valued, and that creativity can be a joyful and liberating force. The care, thought and encouragement you have brought to this project really shines through, and I hope it is just the beginning of more opportunities like this in our community. I truly look forward to seeing what you do next and would be delighted for my child to be involved in any future projects. It means so much to us as a family to see them grow and shine in this way. Sharon Mockler From James – Redcar and Cleveland Youth Services : It has been such a unique and creative experience for our young people from the Tuned In! Skittles group to be collaborating with Miki and Wade as part of Zine Fest, From the first brainstorming session, the group brought big ideas, bold designs, and a real sense of collaboration. It’s been amazing to see them mix creativity with confidence, turning their thoughts into pages that pop. The zine they’ve helped shape is colourful, clever, and totally them, full of personality, passion, and pure Skittles magic! Kind Regards, James James Lilly Youth Music, Media & Arts Co-ordinator ‘Achieve’ School Programme Co-ordinator
