COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

Company activities and impact

Albanian School Pjeter Budi was founded with one clear purpose which is to give the Albanian children born and raised in Liverpool and its surrounding areas the opportunity to learn their mother language and connect with their cultural roots. What began as a community initiative has grown into a vibrant Saturday school where dedicated teachers, passionate volunteers and supportive parents work hand in hand. We offer: weekly 2 hour sessions every Saturday in South Liverpool; Albanian language sessions for ages 4-15; a parent and child playgroup for families with children 0-5; cultural education; history and geography; traditions and festivals, traditional dance, arts, crafts and creative activities all within a safe, friendly, inclusive community environment.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the financial year the company successfully preserved and promoted Albanian heritage in the local community through targeted educational and cultural programmes. We aim to promote social inclusion and encourage the wider local community to come together and raise appreciation of cultural diversity. Our stakeholders include British-Albanian parents, second generation youth, local teachers and members of the public interested in multi-cultural heritage. We distribute bilingual feedback forms, hold group meetings with parents and make use of our website and social media to implement improvements and suggestions. As a result all activities have been limited to one Saturday each week allowing more time for busy parents to become involved.
