COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

NORTH WARWICKSHIRE VILLAGE NEWS CIC

Company Number: 15965458 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2025

Company activities and impact

North Warwickshire Village News CIC produces a free community newsletter to households and community hubs across rural North Warwickshire. The publication, known locally as “Village News”, shares local news, events and stories, helping residents, schools, businesses and community groups stay connected, informed and supported. The first edition of the newsletter was produced in Winter 2023 as a grassroots initiative. Following the successful delivery of three editions, the organisation was registered as a Community Interest Company on 18 September 2024. During the company’s first reporting period, from September 2024 to December 2025, the company’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: - Distributed five issues of the Village News to households and community hubs, with 3,000 copies produced per issue - Reached an average of 200 online readers per issue by making a digital version of the newsletter available through our social media channel - Increased publication frequency from three editions per year to four editions per year - Provided volunteering opportunities for more than 35 local residents to get involved in writing, proof-reading, creative design and distribution - Contributed to the economic vitality of rural communities by enabling over 40 local businesses and community organisations to advertise their services and activities - Established a regular and reliable communication service, enabling two Parish Councils to regularly inform their parishioners about local matters - Enabled the local Member of Parliament to engage with constituents through a regular newsletter page providing updates and details of how residents can raise issues or seek support - Worked with three local schools to involve 15 pupils in a “Caring for Your Environment” poster campaign and 10 primary school pupils in designing the Christmas 2024 edition front cover

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders include residents, schools, local businesses and community organisations within the Ansley and Arley parishes, together with the Parish Councils and community hubs. The directors of the company have lived in the area for a number of years and are actively involved in a range of local groups operating in the area, including the History Society and Gardening Group. This provides regular opportunities to understand local priorities and gather feedback. The Directors regularly attend the Parish Council meetings to remain informed about community matters and meet on a one-to-one basis with the Parish Council Chairs to plan content for every edition of the Village News. We have established a “What’s On Diary” as a regular double page spread in the newsletter. This has provided a valuable resource for residents to find out about the diverse range of activities, sports and interest groups operating in the local community. We consult with representatives from each community hub, including the church halls, at least four times a year to keep this section up to date. The company also consults regularly with volunteers, providing a forward plan of the publishing schedule to ensure we have sufficient support for each edition. Following volunteer feedback, we made adjustments to the delivery timelines during Winter 2024 and Summer 2025 editions to reflect availability of our distributors. In Winter 2025 we issued delivery equipment, including hi-vis and trolley bags, to every distributor in response to feedback. The company also engaged with Warwickshire Police, North Warks Safer Neighbourhood Team, who provided personal alarms for our distribution volunteers, in response to concerns raised about personal safety in the area. There are four schools within the boundaries of our Parishes Each school is consulted during the planning of every edition. Following feedback, a dedicated double-page “Schools Bulletins” section was introduced from Issue 4 (Winter 2024), providing schools a regular opportunity to connect with the wider community. In addition, residents can provide feedback via an online form, dedicated email address and a Village News Facebook page. There have been no significant actions arising from any of these feedback channels during this reporting period.
