Kids Deziah Business runs educational activities empowering young people to be creative, gain confidence and start a business through various projects and activities. During the year, Kids Deziah Business CIC have delivered enterprise sessions for young people, helping them develop business ideas and sell products at events including Leadenhall Market and the Young Traders Market. pParticipants took part in community pop-up fairs, online sessions and guest speaker workshops, building confidence and skills. Two were nominated for Tru Little Hero Awards, with one winning and five appeared on a local radio station in the summer talking about their achievements. We seek out opportunities beyond our programmes to maintain engagement and support. Young people also secured their own selling opportunities, gained recognition in education and use our programmes as a springboard for further opportunities. We have contributed to a government enquiry, the Maple Review, and attended events including at the House of Lords, promoting accessible entrepreneurship for all, advocating more so for young people and those from deprived backgrounds. Applied for funding to improve our reach to more young people. Overall, the CIC has supported young people to build confidence, develop entrepreneurial skills and engage positively in their communities with bigger plans for the coming year.
Our key stakeholders include young people, parents and the wider community. We conducted surveys with 50 parents and engaged in conversations with around 100 community members to understand the need for our provision. Feedback confirmed strong demand for accessible youth enterprise opportunities, which led to successful funding applications. In response to identified gaps in female entrepreneurship (noted at 15%), we developed and secured funding for a mother and daughter enterprise club. Stakeholders also requested ongoing support, leading to the current development of a monthly membership club to be launched. Additionally, feedback highlighted the importance of food provision as a result of the cost of living crisis, so we will provide refreshments at face-to-face sessions to improve accessibility and engagement.
