The company runs volunteer gardening sessions at adopted green spaces within the allotments such as West Hendon and surrounding areas within Barnet. Our main focus remains on activities meant to protect the environment , conserve nature and its biodiversity mainly through community gardening in whatever green spaces available / provided to us. Our volunteers continue to seek more green spaces to adopt and transform into community gardening spots where we can actively engage with the volunteers, the environment and nature. We are currently working on some projects that we started last year based on the theme of climate change mitigation and our mental health wellbeing through container gardening for nature's sake. The project's activities have been funded by Groundwork UK and the national lottery community fund enabling our gardening community to benefit in the following ways; -Our community volunteers who reside in Barnet have and will benefit from access to regular community gardening sessions where we provide seedlings, growing medium, planters and other gardening related materials at no cost to them. -Participants who lack gardening space where they reside were given the chance to adopt plants in containers to grow where they live and their surroundings and encourage them to seek for more green spaces fofr us to transform as a community.
Barnet Environment Support Team runs gardening sessions in adopted green spaces and Barnet Community Garden (allotment based in West Hendon) where we've managed to conduct our regular surveys since December 2024 (paper based and emails). During this period 332 volunteers (who we spoke to) have actively taken part in our weekly gardening sessions. Our community gardeners in attendance have participated alongside their families and friends in acknowledging the mental health crisis we're going through as a society plus diminishing green spaces and voted as a community for this project idea having seen and experienced the benefits of gardening during participation. As around 88 % of our 332 volunteers indicated that they lacked gardening space or an allotment, they felt that this project (Community Container Gardening For Nature's Sake) was very appropriate and compelling for the whole community's involvement with the proven benefits we have experienced from gardening plus the foreseeable future benefits.
