During the financial year ending 30 April 2026, the Westcott Village Hub continued its mission as a community anchor dedicated to social inclusion and economic development. We operated a sustainable ecosystem comprising a Community Cafe, a refill shop to reduce plastic waste, and a Community Garden supporting mental wellbeing. Our core focus remained alleviating hardship. We maintained a Community Fridge, which saves 200–300kg of food from landfill weekly, and provided over 150 free holiday meals for children and 200-300 free breakfasts during term time. We further supported 10 vulnerable families weekly through home-delivered support bags. Our team, now trained in Citizens Advice 'First Aid,' has facilitated community cohesion and provided a 'Warm Welcome' sanctuary for residents facing isolation, while also investing in infrastructure improvements, such as a major toilet refurbishment, to ensure long-term accessibility and comfort for all community members.
Community Consultation: January 2026 Survey Summary To ensure our service development remains deeply rooted in the needs of our residents, we conducted a comprehensive community survey in January 2026, which yielded 86 responses. Community Reach: Many respondents (78 out of 86) are residents living in Westcott, confirming our role as a vital local anchor. Engagement with Services: There is strong interest in community-building initiatives. When asked about attending a "Warm Welcome" space, 74 respondents (combined "Yes" and "Maybe") indicated they would consider it, highlighting a clear demand for our continued efforts to provide advice, connection, and a supportive environment. Commitment to Connection: We found significant enthusiasm for free events designed to bring the community together, with 81 respondents (combined "Yes" and "Maybe") expressing interest. We look forward to acting on these findings over the coming year by tailoring our programming and outreach to match these clear community preferences.
