More than Medics is a national non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering clinicians to explore diverse career opportunities beyond traditional clinical practice. Our mission is to empower medics to become "more than medics," to pursue their professional passions and interests, and to drive multifocal impact in healthcare. We aim to help medics lead impactful and diverse careers whether it be in leadership, entrepreneurship, medical technology, research, medical humanities, global health and much more. During the financial year 2024-2025, the company was in its initial set-up and development phase. Its activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Hosted Online Networking events - 40-60 attendees per weekly webinar (highly rated feedback on each) Started educational programmes - Medical Journalism Programme had 15 interns trained in written/broadcast medical journalism Informative articles - 3800+ monthly individual visitors and 8300+ monthly views from medics across the UK. Popular podcast - 2000+ plays, repurposed into regular social media reels Curated weekly newsletter - 1000 subscribers with a 55-65% open rate and high CTOR of 20-40% - Medical students and doctors have benefited from the development of a structured educational platform intended to make career-development, health innovation and professional opportunities more accessible - The company established the infrastructure to deliver future educational and community-focused activities, including a website, weekly newsletter, podcast, online articles and opportunities boards. - The company’s activities helped create the foundations for a wider professional community in which medical students and healthcare professionals can share opportunities, access educational content and connect with peers and mentors - Start-up expenditure was incurred to support the company’s community interest purpose, including company registration, website development, digital communication tools, branding, intellectual property protection and educational project preparation
The company consulted stakeholders informally through feedback from webinar attendees, educational programme participants, newsletter subscribers, website readers, podcast listeners and social media users. Stakeholders included medical students, doctors, healthcare professionals, contributors, educators, programme participants and subscribers to More than Medics content. Feedback was gathered through event feedback, programme feedback, online engagement, subscriber engagement and direct comments from members of the community. In response, the company continued to develop educational content, networking events, newsletters, podcasts and opportunities-focused resources aimed at helping medics explore wider career paths and professional development opportunities.
