Company activities and impact

Portobello Live CIC continues to provide significant community benefit through the Portobello Live community choir. The choir brings together people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, ages, and life experiences, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone can participate regardless of musical experience. The choir plays an important role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of its members. For many participants, it provides a regular opportunity for social interaction, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Members frequently describe the choir as a vital part of their lives, helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation while boosting confidence, self-esteem, and overall wellbeing. The choir's diverse membership helps to strengthen community cohesion by bringing people together who might not otherwise meet. Through shared musical experiences, members build meaningful connections across generations and cultures, fostering understanding, inclusion, and mutual support. Throughout the year, the choir continued to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the local community through its repertoire, including songs by artists with strong links to the area. These activities not only encouraged creativity and personal development but also strengthened members’ connection to their local community and its cultural identity. Portobello Live CIC remains committed to using music as a tool for community engagement, social inclusion, and wellbeing, ensuring that people from all backgrounds have the opportunity to come together, make new connections, and experience the positive impact of collective singing.

Consultation with stakeholders

The stake holders are local residents in North Kensington who form the audiences, create the art and undertake roles as employees and volunteers in areas including stewarding, sound engineering, stage management, and fund raising. We administer evaluation forms for the choir and the festival. Artist members of the audience, volunteers and sessional employees are asked to complete evaluation forms.
