Act 2 Performing Arts CIC has completed four community projects this year as listed below: 1) Special Educational Needs Project at Aquinas College Pathways - over 14 weeks I lead accessible drama and dance sessions to 20 students with disabilities. Staff - “The students grew in confidence and engaged more each week.” Students favourite parts – “Doing K-pop dancing all together.”, “The acting and the ribbons made me feel amazing awesome excited and super happy.”, “Listening to Abracadabra.”, “I liked the props and enjoyed the play.” 2) Accessible workshops at Hope Valley College SEN Unit - this 8 week project taught performing arts skills to 10 students with additional needs and resulted in a mini show. Differences noticed - "Confidence, willingness to engage as a team, friendship, willing to try new things, interacting with each other, fun and laughter, following direction, helped with integration into Post 16 / settle in, chance to express themselves." 3) High School Musical On Stage performed at New Mills Art Theatre - I provided 22 new jobs to up-and-coming artists (aged 18-35) struggling to get into the Musical Theatre industry, teaching them professional skills to help them get future roles. This was attended by 600 local people, helping to foster connections. Cast - "Thank you so much for trusting and giving me the opportunity when I don’t even believe in myself." "I've met some friends for life whilst doing the things that I love and am so grateful for this job of a lifetime." 4) 12 week project at Our Vision Our Future in Chesterfield - leading inclusive drama and dance sessions to a self-advocacy group for adults (ages ranging from 30-80) with learning disabilities. The performers all seemed incredibly happy and proud of what they had done, some even gave us thank you speeches at the end of the show. They were very sad to see us leaving and want us to come back again soon.
