| 1. | STATUTORY INFORMATION |
| SRK Consulting (Kazakhstan) Limited is a private company limited by shares incorporated in Wales within the United Kingdom. The company's registered number is 07301239 (England and Wales). The address of the registered office is 21 Gold Tops, Newport, NP20 4PG. The company's place of business is 5th Floor, Churchill House, 17 Churchill Way, Cardiff, CF10 2HH. The nature of the company's operations and principal activities are that of the provision of consulting services to resource industries. |
| The financial statements are presented in Sterling (£), the company's functional currency, and rounded to the nearest pound. |
| The significant accounting policies applied in the presentation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otherwise stated. |
| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
| Basis of preparing the financial statements |
| There have been no material departures from Financial Reporting Standard 102 1A. |
| Turnover and revenue recognition |
| Turnover (professional fees) represents the fair value of services provided during the period on client assignments. Turnover is recognised as contract activity progresses and the right to consideration is earned. Fair value reflects the amount expected to be recoverable from clients and is based on time spent, skills and expertise provided and expenses incurred. Turnover (professional fees) excludes value added tax. |
| Turnover in respect of contingent fee assignments (over and above any agreed fee which is recognised as above) is recognised in the period when the contingent event occurs and collectability of the fee is assured. |
| Uninvoiced turnover on individual client assignments is included in debtors. Where individual on-account billings exceed revenue recognised on client assignments, the excess is included as deferred income in creditors. |
| Tangible fixed assets |
| Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. Cost includes costs directly attributable to making the asset capable of operating as intended. |
| Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life. |

| Taxation |
| Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Profit and loss account, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |

| Deferred tax |
| Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the Balance Sheet date. |
| Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
| Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. |
| Foreign currencies |
| Assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating result. |
| Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits |
| The company accrued pension charges with the intent of paying these into a defined contribution pension scheme, however these contributions are now being returned to the employees to which they relate as the employees leave the company. |
| Employee benefits |
| When employees have rendered service to the company, short-term employee benefits to which employees are entitled are recognised at the undiscounted amount expected to be paid in exchange for that service. |
| Recoverable disbursements |
| Recoverable disbursements are stated at the lower of cost or net realisable value. |
| Operating lease commitments |
| Rentals applicable to operating leases where substantially all of the benefits and risks of ownership remain with the lessor are charged against profits on a straight line basis over the period of the lease. |
| Debtors and creditors receivable / payable within one year |
| Debtors and creditors with no stated interest rate and receivable or payable within one year are recorded at transaction price. Any losses arising from impairment are recognised in the Profit and Loss account in other administrative expenses. |
| Cash and cash equivalents |
| Cash and cash equivalents in the Balance Sheet comprise cash at bank and in hand. For the purpose of the cash flow statement, cash and cash equivalents are net of bank overdrafts which are repayable on demand. |
