Lakes Queer Adventures C.I.C. is a recreational sports and social organisation based in Cumbria, North West England, established to improve access to outdoor adventure and nature for LGBTQIA+ people and Allies, and to support their physical and mental wellbeing through community activities. During the year ended 31 May 2026, the company wound down its activities. The directors resolved to cease operating and to apply for voluntary striking off. The company's remaining obligations were settled during the year, including the reimbursement of costs that had been met personally by the director on the company's behalf. No new events were organised by the company during the year as it prepared for closure. The company's prior activities provided safe, inclusive outdoor and social opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people in a predominantly rural area where such provision is limited. While the C.I.C. itself is being dissolved, the community it served continues on an informal, voluntary basis. Members now organise free events independently through a WhatsApp group of approximately 130 participants; these activities are member-led and run outside the company. The decision to dissolve the company was taken because no member was willing to take on the role of director and the associated administrative and regulatory responsibilities. The group concluded that continuing informally, without the C.I.C. structure, better suited its volunteer-led nature.
The company's stakeholders are LGBTQIA+ people and Allies who attended its events, together with the directors and volunteer members who organised them. The decision to wind down the company was communicated to members via the company's social media platforms and email. Members were consulted and were supportive; a number of members voluntarily contributed funds to reimburse the director for costs she had personally met on the company's behalf, reflecting the community's goodwill towards the organisation.
No remuneration was received
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
