LALA Arts is a community-focused arts organisation that delivers creative, cultural, and educational activities designed to increase access to the arts, promote wellbeing, and strengthen community connections. During the reporting period, LALA Arts delivered a range of community arts and cultural activities that promoted participation, creativity, wellbeing, and social connection led by a 95% disabled artists. A key project was the delivery of a community exhibition and associated workshops in partnership with the National Football Museum. This programme engaged local participants in exploring stories, heritage, identity, and community through creative activities, providing opportunities for learning, self-expression, and public engagement with culture. LALA Arts also delivered a community programme of post-match chats, creating welcoming spaces for people to come together, share experiences, discuss issues affecting their communities, and build social connections. These sessions encouraged dialogue, reduced isolation, and strengthened relationships between participants from diverse backgrounds. In addition, the company undertook the first research and development phase of 90 + 5, a creatively accessible theatre project. This work explored innovative approaches to accessibility and audience engagement, ensuring that creative experiences can be enjoyed by a wider range of people, including those who may face barriers to participation in the arts. The R&D process involved consultation, creative development, and testing of ideas that will inform future public-facing productions and community engagement activities. Through these activities, LALA Arts provided cultural, educational, and social benefits to the community by increasing access to the arts, encouraging participation, supporting wellbeing, and fostering inclusive spaces where people could connect, learn, and express themselves creatively.
LALA Arts consulted with stakeholders throughout the year to ensure its activities remained relevant, accessible, and beneficial to the communities it serves. Stakeholders included community participants, artists, creative practitioners, partner organisations, volunteers, audience members, and local community groups. Consultation took place through informal discussions, participant feedback, post-event evaluations, workshop conversations, and ongoing dialogue with project partners. Feedback gathered through the National Football Museum exhibition and workshop programme, community post-match chats, and the research and development phase of 90 + 5 helped shape the company's approach to future programming. Stakeholders highlighted the importance of accessible, inclusive, and community-led creative opportunities that encourage participation, dialogue, and social connection. The directors also held annual strategy and development meetings to review stakeholder feedback and assess the impact of the company's activities. These discussions were used to identify priorities, strengthen community engagement, improve accessibility, and support the continued development of programmes that respond to the needs and interests of the communities served by LALA Arts. The company used this feedback and strategic review process to inform project planning, strengthen partnerships, improve accessibility, and identify opportunities for future growth and community benefit.
