During the financial year, Sahil Community Development assisted communities displaced during the civil war around the Dawally region who fled to the Sahil region. Many vulnerable families were left without adequate food, shelter, and necessities. The organization responded by providing clean water supplies, basic health support, and emergency food and blanket distribution to affected households, helping to stabilize living conditions during a period of instability and hardship. Essential food items such as rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil, and other basic supplies were distributed, alongside blankets to protect vulnerable households including women, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities. Families also received clean water and basic health support to reduce illness and improve resilience. Community members were engaged through local distribution points and informal meetings, which helped identify those most in need and ensured that assistance was delivered fairly and appropriately. Volunteers played a key role in supporting the delivery of water, health services, food, and blankets, strengthening community participation and local capacity. As a result, the company’s work reduced immediate hardship, improved access to safe drinking water, addressed food insecurity, and provided essential protection against cold conditions.
Sahil Community Development consulted with displaced families, community representatives, volunteers, local leaders, the Somaliland Ministry of Health, and the Somaliland Ministry of Resettlement and Humanitarian Affairs to ensure that support was delivered effectively and equitably. Input was gathered through local distribution points and informal meetings, which provided valuable feedback on urgent needs and guided the delivery of clean water, health services, emergency food, and blanket distribution. Vulnerable households, including women, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities, were actively consulted to ensure their specific requirements were addressed.
