During the financial year, Boamena Collective CIC focused on establishing and developing trauma-informed, movement-based approaches to youth wellbeing, emotional health, healthy relationships, and personal development. A key area of work involved designing and developing the Men Moving Forward programme, a strengths-based initiative that uses sport, play, and reflective practice to support young people in exploring identity, emotional wellbeing, healthy relationships, communication, and resilience. The company also consulted with LMK, a specialist relationship abuse charity, to adapt educational workshops into age-appropriate and engaging sessions for approximately 25 young people participating in a half-term programme. This included further consultation on applying a systemic practice and therapeutic approach, helping to ensure the sessions were relational, reflective, age-appropriate, and sensitive to group dynamics. Boamena Collective’s developing model also provided a rationale and practical context for a director to pursue further football coaching development, including progression from the FA Introduction to Coaching Football pathway onto the UEFA C coaching qualification. This supported the organisation’s longer-term capacity to deliver safe, inclusive and development-focused sport-based programmes for young people. These activities contributed to Boamena Collective’s community interest objective of increasing access to trauma-informed, strengths-based learning opportunities for young people and the communities that support them.
