Company activities and impact

Lewisham Water Polo Club Community Interest Company (Company Number 16013071) was established to promote water polo in the Lewisham area and provide accessible sporting opportunities, particularly for children and young people.During the period from 11 October 2024 to 31 October 2025, the club ran weekly water polo training sessions for over 50 children and young people in Lewisham. We provided affordable access to pool facilities at Glass Mill Leisure Centre and actively supported local schools, families, and children from the local community.Key community highlights include:Introduction of low-income membership options to improve accessibility. Offering free membership for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Organising no-fee tournaments (including opportunities abroad). Bringing one of the league games to the local pool, enabling more families to watch and engage with the sport. These activities have directly benefited the local community by promoting physical health, teamwork, discipline, and social inclusion among children and young people in Lewisham.

Consultation with stakeholders

The club’s main stakeholders are the participating children and young people, their parents/guardians, local schools, and the wider Lewisham community.We consulted stakeholders through:Regular feedback forms and surveys after training sessions. Parent and player newsletters. Committee meetings. Direct emails and ongoing communication with Lewisham Council and Glass Mill Leisure Centre management. Feedback received has been positive and has been used to adjust session times, introduce flexible membership options, and improve the inclusivity of the programme.

Directors' remuneration

The company has one director who is also the sole employee.During the period the director received:Salary: £12,570 Bonus: £2,000 Full details of directors’ remuneration are included in the attached annual accounts.
