Principal activities of the company

The principal activity of the company during the financial year was the operation of a community support service providing free emergency food parcels, toiletries, hygiene products and essential household items to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. The organisation focused on supporting working families, lone parents, pensioners and people facing sudden financial difficulties within Newcastle under Lyme and the surrounding area. The company also redistributed surplus food and essential items to reduce waste and ensure resources were directed to those most in need. All activities were carried out to further the company’s community benefit purpose.

Political and charitable donations

The company made no political donations during the financial year. The company did not make any charitable donations other than the community support activities that form part of its normal operations and social purpose.

Company activities and impact

Community Cupboard NUL CIC has supported the local community throughout the financial year by providing free emergency food parcels, toiletries, hygiene products and essential household items to individuals and families facing financial hardship. The organisation has helped working families, lone parents, pensioners and people experiencing sudden financial difficulties by ensuring they can access essential items without judgement or barriers. A significant number of the households supported include children, and the assistance provided has helped improve wellbeing, reduce food insecurity and support school attendance. The organisation has also reduced isolation by offering a friendly and supportive environment where people feel respected and listened to. Community Cupboard has worked with local residents, schools, supermarkets and community partners to ensure support reaches those most in need. By redistributing surplus food and essential items, the organisation has also helped reduce waste and environmental impact. The CIC is run entirely by volunteers, ensuring that resources directly benefit the community.
