Basis of preparing the financial statements
The financial statements have been prepared on a basis other than that of a going concern. During the year, the directors resolved to wind up the operations of the Company in an orderly manner. The directors expect that this process will be substantially completed within 12 months from the date of approval of these financial statements.
As a result, the financial statements have been prepared on a break-up basis, rather than on a going concern basis.
Under this basis of preparation:
o Assets are stated at their estimated net realisable values.
o Liabilities are stated at their expected settlement amounts, including any additional costs expected to arise in connection with the liquidation.
o Provisions have been recognised for costs directly attributable to the wind-up, including redundancy, contract termination costs, professional fees, and other closure-related expenses where applicable.
o Depreciation and amortisation policies reflecting ongoing use of assets are no longer appropriate and have therefore been discontinued; instead, assets are measured based on realisation values.
The preparation of these financial statements on a liquidation basis requires management to make judgements and estimates, particularly in determining the expected realisable value of assets and the expected settlement value of liabilities. Actual outcomes may differ from these estimates.
These financial statements do not include any adjustments that would result if the Company were able to continue as a going concern.
Preparation of consolidated financial statements
The financial statements contain information about JRRM Limited as an individual company and do not contain consolidated financial information as the parent of a group. The company is exempt under Section 399(2A) of the Companies Act 2006 from the requirements to prepare consolidated financial statements.
Financial instruments
The Company only enters into basic financial instrument transactions that result in the recognition of financial assets and liabilities like trade and other debtors and creditors, loans from banks and other third parties, loans to related parties and investments in ordinary shares.
Financial assets that are measured at cost and amortised cost are assessed at the end of each reporting period for objective evidence of impairment. If objective evidence of impairment is found, an impairment loss is recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income.
For financial assets measured at cost less impairment, the impairment loss is measured as the difference between an asset's carrying amount and best estimate of the recoverable amount, which is an approximation of the amount that the Company would receive for the asset if it were to be sold at the balance sheet date.
Investments in subsidiaries
Investments in subsidiary undertakings are recognised at cost.
