Other accounting policies

Deferred Taxation Deferred tax is recognised in full, using the liability method, on all temporary differences arising between the tax bases of assets and liabilities and their carrying amounts in the financial statements. However, if the deferred tax arises from the initial recognition of an asset or liability in a transaction other than a business combination that affects neither accounting nor taxable profit, it is not recognised. Deferred tax assets are recognised to the extent that it is probable that future taxable profit will be available against which the temporary differences and unutilised tax losses can be offset. Deferred tax is measured at the average tax rates that are expected to apply in the periods in which the asset is realised or liability is settled, based on tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. Deferred tax balances are not discounted.
