Portsmouth Film Society (PFS) CIC continued its mission to provide accessible, inclusive and culturally enriching film and arts experiences for the communities of Portsmouth and the wider South Coast. Operating from Southsea Cinema and Arts Centre, the organisation delivered a diverse year-round programme of cinema screenings, festivals, exhibitions, workshops, talks, live music performances and community events that promoted education, wellbeing, creativity and social engagement. During the year, PFS presented a broad programme of independent, British and international cinema alongside themed seasons and special events. Major activities included the Recovery Festival, LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Green Film Festival, outdoor cinema events and a range of community screenings developed in partnership with local organisations. These events provided opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to come together, engage with important social and cultural issues, and participate in shared experiences that strengthened community cohesion and reduced social isolation. PFS continued to develop film education and audience development activities through workshops, panel discussions, filmmaker Q&As and skills-based learning opportunities. Particular emphasis was placed on engaging young people through music and cultural events, supporting emerging artists and filmmakers, and reaching underrepresented communities and individuals who may face barriers to accessing arts and cultural provision. These activities encouraged lifelong learning, creative expression and increased participation in the arts. Accessibility remained central to the organisation's work. Through affordable ticket pricing, pay-what-you-can initiatives, free community events and partnerships with charitable and voluntary sector organisations, PFS ensured that cultural participation remained open to a wide range of residents, including people in recovery, refugees, low-income households and those experiencing social isolation. Southsea Cinema and Arts Centre continues to provide a welcoming and safe space where individuals can connect with others, build confidence, access cultural opportunities and participate in community life regardless of their background or circumstances. The organisation worked closely with community groups, artists, educational institutions, charities and local authorities to strengthen Portsmouth's cultural infrastructure and create opportunities for collaboration. By supporting local artists, hosting community-led initiatives and providing affordable space for cultural activity, PFS contributed to the development of Portsmouth's creative economy and cultural sector. The community benefit delivered by Portsmouth Film Society extends beyond entertainment. The organisation's activities promote social inclusion, improve wellbeing, encourage community participation, provide educational opportunities and support local creative talent. Through accessible cultural provision and inclusive programming, PFS helps address barriers to participation in the arts while fostering a stronger sense of belonging and civic pride within the local community. Across all programmes, thousands of audience members, participants and visitors engaged with PFS activities during the year. The Society continued to demonstrate significant community and social benefit through its commitment to accessible cultural provision, creative education, community wellbeing and inclusive engagement. Turnover and other operating income decreased during the year, predominantly due to reduced grant funding and the fact that some rooms and facilities were not available for hire throughout the entire reporting period. Despite these challenges, the directors remained committed to maintaining the organisation's community activities and cultural programme. The directors continue to actively seek grant funding, sponsorship opportunities, partnerships and new sources of earned income to support the long-term sustainability of the CIC and maximise the community benefit delivered through its activities. The Society's annual accounts provide a full and transparent record of income and expenditure. Resources were applied solely in furtherance of the company's community interest objectives, including venue operations, programme delivery, artist support, educational activities, audience development and community engagement initiatives. The assets of Portsmouth Film Society CIC continue to be used exclusively in support of its community interest objectives, particularly in relation to community screenings, educational programmes, festivals and outdoor cinema events. These assets include Southsea Cinema and Arts Centre, projection and sound equipment, exhibition infrastructure, video production equipment, educational resources and outdoor cinema equipment. The availability of these assets enables the Society to provide affordable and accessible cultural, educational and community activities that directly benefit residents of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. By maintaining and utilising these resources for public benefit, the Society continues to support community participation, creative development, social inclusion and access to arts and culture.

The directors continue to use stakeholder feedback to guide decision-making and ensure that the organisation's activities deliver meaningful community benefit.
