Company activities and impact

Bury Film Group CIC provides free and accessible community cinema screenings for residents of Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area. The company's activities help reduce social isolation, improve community wellbeing and increase access to arts and culture for people who may otherwise face financial or accessibility barriers. During the financial year, the company organised free film screenings that were attended by local residents of all ages. These events particularly benefited families on low incomes, people with disabilities, older residents and individuals who may not otherwise have been able to access cinema experiences. The screenings provided opportunities for people to come together, build social connections and participate in shared cultural activities within their local community. The company also worked with local organisations and businesses to support the delivery of these events and maximise community benefit. Through its activities, Bury Film Group CIC has continued to promote inclusion, accessibility and community engagement while providing free entertainment and cultural opportunities for local residents.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders include attendees of its community screenings, volunteers, local businesses, funding organisations and the cinema venue used to host events. The company consults stakeholders through conversations at screenings, email correspondence, social media engagement and discussions with partners supporting the events. Feedback is regularly received from attendees regarding film choices, accessibility requirements and the overall event experience. This feedback has informed decisions about the types of films screened, the continued provision of free tickets, and efforts to make events as accessible and welcoming as possible for people with disabilities, families and those facing financial barriers. Feedback has also highlighted strong demand for community screenings, which has supported the company's efforts to secure grant funding and increase the number of events delivered. The company continues to engage with stakeholders to ensure its activities meet local needs and provide meaningful community benefit.
