Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have remained unchanged from the previous year, and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
The company was in a period of product development prior to the current financial year. It has started to generate sales and has a strong balance sheet. It relies on grant income and the support of its shareholders and is currently able to meet its liabilities as they fall due. The shareholders have no intention of withdrawing their support for the foreseeable future. For this reason, the directors consider it appropriate to prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:
Plant & machinery
50% cost
Fixtures & fittings
50% cost
Computer equipment
50% cost
Stocks and work in progress
Stocks and work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value after making due allowance for obsolete and slow-moving stocks. Cost includes all direct costs and an appropriate proportion of fixed and variable overheads. Work‑in‑progress is reflected in the accounts on a contract by contract basis by recording turnover and related costs as contract activity progresses.
Research and development expenditure
Expenditure on research and development is written off in the year in which it is incurred.
Research expenditure is written off against profits in the year in which it is incurred. Identifiable development expenditure is capitalised to the extent that the technical, commercial and financial feasibility can be demonstated.
Development costs are amortised on a straight line basis over their useful life once the related project is complete and available for use.

The company operates a defined contribution scheme. Contributions are charged to the profit and loss account as they become payable in accordance with the rules of the scheme.
Government grants are recognised in the profit and loss account in an appropriate manner that matches them with the expenditure towards which they are intended to contribute.
Grants for immediate financial support or to cover costs already incurred are recognised immediately in the profit and loss account. Grants towards general activities of the entity over a specific period are recognised in the profit and loss account over that period.
Grants towards fixed assets are recognised over the expected useful lives of the related assets and are treated as deferred income and

All assets are now depreciated over 2 years straight line compared to the original methods of:
Plant & machinery - 20% cost
Fixtures & fittings - 25%
cost
Computer equipment - 25%
