NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2025

1. STATUTORY INFORMATION

Midtherm Engineering Limited is a private company, limited by shares , registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page.

The presentation currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£).

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Revenue recognition
Revenue from engineering contracts is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract activity at the reporting date when the outcome of the contract can be estimated reliably and it is probable that economic benefits associated with the contract will flow to the company.

The stage of completion is measured using the cost-to-cost method, based on contract costs incurred to date as a percentage of total estimated contract costs, as this method most reliably reflects the services performed.

Contract revenue includes the agreed contract amount and approved variations, claims, and incentive payments to the extent that it is probable they will be recovered and can be measured reliably.

Amounts recoverable for work performed but not yet invoiced are included within debtors as accrued income. Amounts invoiced in advance of work performed are included within creditors as deferred income.

When the outcome of a contract cannot be estimated reliably, revenue is recognised only to the extent of contract costs incurred that are expected to be recoverable.

When it is probable that total contract costs will exceed total contract revenue, the expected loss is recognised immediately in the profit and loss account.

Estimates of contract revenue, costs, and stage of completion are reviewed regularly and revised as necessary. Any changes in estimates are recognised in the period in which the circumstances giving rise to the revision become known.

Tangible fixed assets
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life or, if held under a finance lease, over the lease term, whichever is the shorter.
Freehold property - 2% on cost
Plant and machinery - 15% on reducing balance
Fixtures and fittings - 10% on reducing balance
Motor vehicles - 25% on reducing balance
Computer equipment - 25% on reducing balance

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

Where the outcome of a contract can be estimated reliably, revenue and costs are recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract activity at the balance sheet date. The assessment of the stage of completion is dependent on the nature of the contract, but will generally be based on the estimated proportion of the total contract costs which have been incurred to date. If a contract is expected to be loss-making, a provision is recognised for the entire loss.

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.

Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.

Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the statement of financial position date.

Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the statement of financial position date.

Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.

Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Foreign currencies
Assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the statement of financial position date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating result.

Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Assets obtained under hire purchase contracts or finance leases are capitalised in the balance sheet. Those held under hire purchase contracts are depreciated over their estimated useful lives. Those held under finance leases are depreciated over their estimated useful lives or the lease term, whichever is the shorter.

The interest element of these obligations is charged to profit or loss over the relevant period. The capital element of the future payments is treated as a liability.

Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
