Notes to the Financial Statements
for the Year Ended 30th September 2025

1. STATUTORY INFORMATION

Chorus IT Limited is a private company, limited by shares , registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page.

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

These financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The directors have assessed the company's financial position, banking facilities and cash flow forecasts and have concluded that the going concern basis remains appropriate.

Critical accounting judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty
The most significant judgement relates to the assessment of going concern. In making this assessment, the directors have considered the company’s net liability position, its forecast cash flows and the continued support of its lender. The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis on the expectation that this support will continue.

The key estimate relates to the recognition of deferred tax assets based on expected future profitability.

Turnover
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.

Managed service contracts: revenue is recognised over time on a straight-line basis over the contract term.

Project services: recognised over time based on stage of completion where outcomes can be reliably measured; otherwise at completion.

Software/licence resale: recognised at a point in time when control transfers.

Sale of goods: revenue is recognised at a point in time when control of the goods passes to the customer, typically upon delivery or collection, depending on contractual terms.

The company operates in a single business class, and all revenue is generated within the United Kingdom.

Goodwill
Goodwill, being the amount paid in connection with the acquisition of a business in 2014, is being amortised evenly over its estimated useful life of ten years.

Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.

Computer software is being amortised evenly over its estimated useful life of five years.

Tangible fixed assets
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.
Long leasehold - Straight line over 5 - 10 years and Straight line over 4 years
Fixtures and fittings - Straight line over 5 years
Motor vehicles - 25% on reducing balance
Computer equipment - Straight line over 3 years

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.

Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.

Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.

Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.

Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.

Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.

Functional and presentation currency
The company's functional and presentation currency is pounds sterling (£). All amounts are presented in pounds and rounded to the nearest pound.

Financial instruments
Financial assets and liabilities are recognised when the company becomes party to contractual provisions of the instrument. They are initially measured at the transaction price, including transaction costs, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction.

Basic financial instruments, such as trade debtors, cash, trade creditors and simple loans, are subsequently measured at amortised cost (or cost less impairment for short-term balances where the impact of discounting is immaterial).

At each reporting date, the company assesses whether there is objective evidence of impairment of financial assets held at amortised cost. Impairment losses are recognised in profit or loss.

Financial assets are derecognised when contractual rights to cash flows expire or substantially all risks and rewards are transferred. Financial liabilities are derecognised when the obligation is extinguished.
