The Company’s mission is to provide opportunities for young people and the wider community to access the benefits of horses, ponies, and the countryside. Through its activities, the Company aims to develop skills, confidence, and knowledge in a safe and supportive learning environment, while promoting inclusion, community integration, and physical and mental wellbeing through outdoor activities. During the reporting period, the Company successfully operated three community-based groups: Saddle Club for children aged 6 and over, providing opportunities to learn stable management and horse care skills. Young Equestrians Group for young people aged 11 and over, focusing on horsemanship, personal development, and social engagement. Gee Gees for Grown Ups, supporting community cohesion and wellbeing through networking opportunities for local residents, including those new to the area, partners of deployed personnel, and individuals living alone. These activities continued until the end of May 2025 and provided valuable educational, social, and wellbeing benefits to participants.
Throughout the Company’s operation, feedback was regularly sought from participants, families, volunteers, and the wider community to ensure that activities met local needs and delivered meaningful community benefit. Following a review of the Company’s resources and future sustainability during the 2024/25 financial year, it became apparent that the organisation could no longer operate viably due to insufficient funding to recruit and retain qualified instructors, together with a shortage of volunteers to support activities. As a result, the Directors made the decision to wind down operations in an orderly manner, with all three clubs continuing to run until the end of May 2025.
