Directors' report period ended 31 October 2025

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 October 2025

Principal activities of the company

The principal activity of the organisation during the financial year remained the development of educational and community infrastructure designed to empower young Londoners aged 14–25 to lead their own micro-communities and initiatives. Following an extensive period of research and youth consultation in the previous year, the organisation's focus throughout the 2024–2025 period was on internal strategic restructuring, governance modernisation, and compliance development. The organisation chose to pause public-facing delivery temporarily to focus entirely on transforming previous youth feedback into actionable, long-term frameworks. Key activities included the comprehensive co-design of a Youth-Driven Governance & Ethics Policy, the creation of a modern Digital Safety Statement suited to online youth work, and the structural implementation of a non-diagnostic baseline for reasonable adjustments to remove accessibility barriers for all participants. These administrative and strategic activities were vital to ensure that the organisation’s infrastructure is fully robust, compliant with National Youth Agency standards, and positioned to safely secure statutory funding and manage youth micro-grants in the upcoming financial cycle.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

THE ASSOCIATION FOR DEVELOPMENT THROUGH EDUCATION, INFORMATION, AND SUPPORT - D.E.I.S. CIC

Company Number: 13684406 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2025

Company activities and impact

This financial year, we made the intentional decision to pause our public-facing delivery to focus entirely on a vital period of behind-the-scenes restructuring, policy design, and compliance development. Following our extensive youth consultations in the previous period, this year was all about taking the raw insights given to us by young people and turning them into an operational foundation so we can relaunch safely and sustainably. Throughout this financial year, our activities have benefited the community in the following ways: - Governance shift by building our unique Youth-Driven Governance & Ethics Policy. Directly inspired by feedback from our previous youth cohorts, this framework moves away from old-school, rigid adult structures. Instead, it embeds creative, youth-friendly active consent models and a strict, anti-exploitative compensation setup right into the core of how our CIC operates. - We overhauled our approach to support by introducing a non-diagnostic baseline for reasonable adjustments. Recognising that systemic bottlenecks in London often mean marginalised or neurodivergent youth wait years for official clinical diagnoses, we designed our framework so that any young person can access tailored sensory, learning, or communication support across our spaces instantly, no paperwork required. - Modernising digital youth work safety framework, in line with the latest National Youth Agency (NYA) guidelines, we designed a comprehensive Digital Safety Statement . This bridges the gap between physical and online youth spaces, creating sensible boundaries like a 24-hour logging mandate for one-to-one staff messages, while adapting our project communications to platforms young people actually use and prefer, such as Discord and WhatsApp. - Building a foundation for funding by completely updating our core compliance suite including our Safeguarding, Whistleblowing, and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) policies This hard work behind the scenes ensures we are fully equipped to safely manage and relaunch in the next financial cycle.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include young Londoners aged 14–25, youth work practitioners, and local community organisations across SE London. Following our research and consultation phase in the previous year, our focus during this period shifted towards deep relational consultations with sector colleagues and local partners. This approach ensured that as we spent the year restructuring our internal policies and governance frameworks, our new models remained completely grounded in the practical realities of the local youth offer. we carried out strategic mapping sessions and reflective dialogues with youth workers and sector advisors to stress-test our new Youth-Driven Governance & Ethics Policy and Digital Safety Statement, ensuring our internal restructuring directly addresses current trends and safety realities across local youth provisions. We also started new discussions and consultations with our colleagues at The Albany in Deptford to focus on how to best build a long term partnership with and for young creatives, ensuring our upcoming youth-led frameworks complement existing arts and community programmes in Lewisham. Furthermore, we maintained our long-standing partnership and feedback loops with the Greenwich Youth Justice Service, working closely alongside their practitioners to ensure our evolving micro-grant structures and non-diagnostic approach to reasonable adjustments fully support and accommodate young people navigating the youth justice system. We maintained small, focused dialogue loops with a trusted group of young leaders from our previous cohorts. Their direct feedback actively shaped the practical layout of our digital safety reporting tools and confirmed that our operational emphasis on privacy, screenshots, and clear messaging hours perfectly matches their everyday online experiences and safety preferences.
