| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Critical judgements & key estimates
The directors do not consider that there are any critical judgements or key sources of estimation uncertainty that have a significant risk of causing a material adjustment to the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities within the next financial year.
Turnover
Turnover represents rental income receivable from the letting of investment properties in the UK and is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of value added tax and other sales-related taxes.
Rental income is recognised on a straight-line basis over the term of the lease, regardless of the timing of cash receipts, so as to reflect the pattern in which the economic benefits from the leased assets are consumed.
The company also receives dividend income from fixed asset investments, which is recognised when the right to receive payment is established.
Investment property
Investment property is shown at most recent valuation. Any aggregate surplus or deficit arising from changes in fair value is recognised in profit or loss.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Functional and presentation currency
The financial statements are presented in £ sterling, which is the company's functional and presentation currency.
Going concern
The company is reliant on the support of its director and shareholders and having made appropriate enquiries, the director has considered the future cashflow of the company and is not aware of any reason why the company will not be able to meet its liabilities as they fall due for the foreseeable future. As a result the director has continued to adopt the going concern basis.
