Violet Pathways CIC provides free perinatal peer support to parents experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the first two years following birth. During the reporting period the company established and delivered weekly peer support groups and one-to-one support across the South Hams, Torbay and Teignbridge. Support was provided by trained volunteers with lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges. Activities focused on reducing isolation, improving wellbeing, increasing access to support services and providing a compassionate, non-judgemental space for parents who may not meet the threshold for statutory services or who are awaiting support. The company worked alongside existing NHS and community services, offering emotional support, advocacy, signposting and practical assistance where appropriate. Feedback from service users demonstrated reduced feelings of loneliness and isolation, increased confidence in accessing support and improved wellbeing. The organisation continued to develop partnerships with local services and professionals to improve outcomes for parents and families in the local community.
Violet Pathways CIC regularly consults with its service users, volunteers, local professionals and partner organisations. Feedback is gathered informally through conversations, peer support groups, one-to-one sessions, volunteer meetings and ongoing engagement with health visitors, perinatal mental health services and community organisations. Feedback from service users has directly influenced the development of the service, including the introduction of follow-on support for parents of older children, increased flexibility in how support is delivered and the development of additional group opportunities to reduce isolation and improve accessibility. The company remains committed to responding to the needs identified by the community it serves, and continually adapts its services in response to stakeholder feedback.
