Notes to the Financial Statements |
|
Year ended 31 August 2025
1.
General information
The company is a private company limited by shares, registered in England and Wales. The address of the registered office is 25 Stewart Road, Sheffield, S11 8XS.
2.
Statement of compliance
These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with Section 1A of FRS 102, 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland'.
3.
Accounting policies
Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair value through profit or loss.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entity.
Judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty
The preparation of the financial statements requires management to make judgements, estimates and assumptions that affect the amounts reported. These estimates and judgements are continually reviewed and are based on experience and other factors, including expectations of future events that are believed to be reasonable under the circumstances. In the opinion of management, there are no areas of judgement or key sources of estimation uncertainty that have a significant effect on the financial statements, other than those highlighted below.
Revenue recognition
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable and represents amounts receivable for services rendered during the year. Revenue from the sale of development properties is recognised at the point in time when control passes to the purchaser, which is generally on legal completion.
Income tax
The taxation expense represents the sum of the tax currently payable. Current tax is recognised on taxable profit for the current year. Taxable profit differs from net profit as reported in the profit and loss account because it excludes items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and it further excludes items that are never taxable or deductible. The company's liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting end date. Expenditure incurred on the remediation of contaminated or derelict land is eligible for Land Remediation Relief where conditions are met. Qualifying expenditure may attract an enhanced tax deduction which will be recognised in the period when the tax recovery crystallises.
Stocks
Stocks comprise land and buildings held for development and sale. Costs included within stock and work in progress include land acquisition costs, direct construction costs (materials and labour), professional fees, levies and other costs, including compensation, directly attributable to bringing the property to its present condition. Development costs are accumulated as work in progress until the property is completed and sold. Properties under construction are included within stocks as work in progress.
Financial instruments
Financial instruments are classified and accounted for, according to the substance of the contractual arrangement, as either financial assets, financial liabilities or equity instruments. An equity instrument is any contract that evidences a residual interest in the assets of the company after deducting all of its liabilities.
