In 2024-25 Slugtown continued to benefit our community through a programme of free exhibitions, talks, events, and workshops. In October 2025 we took part in Minor Attractions at the Mandrake Hotel, London with a solo presentation by Jungwon Jay Hur. The exhibition programme at Slugtown included 4 group exhibitions and 2 solo exhibitions. ’Main’ Protagonist’ was a group exhibition featuring nine artists from across the UK, considering the power of theatricality, presentation, and concealment. 'Chalant' brought together Ailish Treanor and Jessie Whiteley in a two-person exhibition exploring ideas around presentation and objectification. 'Brief Candle, Splendid Torch' was a solo exhibition by Lucien Anderson concerned with the fundamentals of human survival, solitary outposts, and brief moments of camaraderie. ‘Miscue’ was a solo exhibition by Mac Collins transformed the gallery into an immersive abstraction of a traditional pub. We continued SlugClub with monthly workshops at local schools and a youth programme with activities designed by professional artists. In November 2024 we presented ‘Our Corner of Paradise’ a SlugClub group exhibition at the gallery with artworks produced in a series of workshops that considered how gardens are sites for building community. Across August 2025 we ran our annual SlugClub Summer Project, titled ‘The Beautiful Game’ which combined art and football and culminated in an expansive exhibition of the work produced by the young people.
We consult with local residents through informal conversations at our events including exhibition tours, coffee mornings, as well as those hosted by our partners in the locality. Data is gathered through audience finder questions at the gallery and simple feedback forms at our SlugClub sessions. These approaches have helped to shape our programme, our engagement with our community, and funding applications. Feedback from artists and practitioners has also informed delivery and helped us provide better tailored support for emerging and early-career artists.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £22,213. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
