Sister Shack is a Black and Global Majority-led feminist and activist CIC that focuses on working with and promoting women and non-binary entrepreneurs, creatives, artists, musicians, and DJs. We also highlight and discuss the issues faced by women and non-binary individuals, providing information and guidance. We are actively interested in community outreach and public programming. At Sister Shack, we are deeply committed to the rights and well-being of marginalised communities. Our mission is to educate on a wide range of subjects, including LGBTQIA+ rights, boundaries, consent, community inclusion, activism, decolonising and racism. We are a Global Majority-led organisation that has refocused our efforts to champion and support our community first and foremost. We believe in promoting and empowering the individuals we serve, supporting their growth in any area they choose and encouraging them to take up as much space as they need. Sister Shack has promoted and supported those most marginalised in our community by hosting events, championing individuals and groups, fundraising, providing advice and support, safer spaces and much more. We have continued to focus on curating events and spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community, while creating safer spaces for people from Global Majority communities. We are even more focused on actively engaging in community inclusion and social change. Many people within our community and beyond have benefited from our support, as well as the networking opportunities, business advice, and guidance we provide. We have also been instrumental in educating people about their rights and addressing issues such as racism, misogyny, and well-being. Our initiatives include hosting free-to-attend events, yoga sessions, panel discussions, decolonising events, music events, workshops, and other activities. We are based in Newcastle upon Tyne (North East of England) and have supported and promoted multiple persons from this area and beyond. Throughout 2025, Sister Shack has continued to build upon its reputation as a trusted community organisation that centres the voices, experiences, and aspirations of women, non-binary people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and Global Majority communities. Through collaborative working, community consultation, and grassroots engagement, we have strengthened our ability to respond to the evolving needs of those we serve while remaining firmly rooted in our values of inclusion, equity, empowerment, and social justice. Our work has increasingly focused on creating opportunities for visibility, representation, and professional development for creatives, entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, DJs, activists, and community leaders who may otherwise face barriers to participation and progression. By providing platforms for people to showcase their talents, share their stories, and connect with wider networks, Sister Shack continues to foster confidence, resilience, and sustainable community growth. In 2025, we have further expanded our educational and awareness-raising activities, facilitating meaningful conversations around identity, intersectionality, discrimination, allyship, wellbeing, and community care. Through workshops, discussions, public events, and digital engagement, we have encouraged learning, understanding, and positive action within both our immediate communities and the wider public. We remain committed to creating safer, welcoming, and affirming spaces where individuals can connect, collaborate, and access support without fear of judgement or exclusion. These spaces play a vital role in reducing isolation, promoting wellbeing, and fostering a strong sense of belonging among participants. Our community-centred approach ensures that those with lived experience are not only heard but are actively involved in shaping the direction and delivery of our programmes and activities. As we continue to grow, Sister Shack remains dedicated to challenging inequality, amplifying underrepresented voices, and driving positive social change. We recognise the importance of investing in our communities and creating opportunities that enable individuals to thrive personally, professionally, and creatively. Looking ahead, we will continue to strengthen partnerships, expand our reach, and develop innovative programmes that support and celebrate the diversity, talent, and resilience of the communities we serve.
The "stakeholders" (not financial) are the community we support, such as LGBTQIA+ persons, Global Majority persons, and other marginalised people and communities that are promoted and supported by Sister Shack. We offer online consultations, events, and meetings, and keep our communities informed via our website, newsletters, and all social media platforms. We also provide feedback forms and panel discussions. Our community's input and needs are always considered and valued, shaping how Sister Shack is developed and run. Their wants and needs are at the forefront of considerations, and Sister Shack's sole aim is to serve the needs of our communities. We also host safer spaces (with consultation) for Global Majority and LGBTQIA+ communities, which we are proud to offer our non-financial stakeholders. Throughout 2025, Sister Shack has continued to strengthen its commitment to meaningful community engagement by ensuring that the voices of those we support remain central to all decision-making processes. We actively seek feedback through formal and informal channels, enabling community members to share their experiences, identify emerging needs, and contribute ideas for future services, programmes, and events. Our consultations, meetings, workshops, and community gatherings provide opportunities for open dialogue and co-production, ensuring that our services remain relevant, accessible, and responsive to the diverse communities we serve. By maintaining regular communication through digital platforms, newsletters, and social media, we ensure that stakeholders remain informed about organisational developments, opportunities for involvement, and the impact of our work. Sister Shack recognises that many of the individuals and communities we support face barriers to participation, representation, and access to safe environments. As a result, we continue to prioritise the creation and facilitation of inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive safer spaces where people can connect, learn, share experiences, and access support without fear of discrimination or exclusion. The organisation remains committed to empowering marginalised communities by listening to lived experiences, promoting community-led solutions, and ensuring that stakeholders have genuine opportunities to influence the direction of the organisation. This collaborative approach helps Sister Shack remain accountable to the communities it serves and ensures that our activities, services, and strategic priorities continue to reflect their evolving needs and aspirations. In 2025, Sister Shack remains dedicated to fostering belonging, inclusion, wellbeing, and empowerment for all members of our communities, ensuring that every voice is heard, respected, and valued.
