There have been a number of projects that we have been working on in this financial year: Acorn Centre – This is a community centre based in one of the estates in Torquay. We were asked to support the team and the centre management to help them implement their plan from the Youth Investment Fund. We worked with the youth work team to make the youth work safer and more impactful and we worked with the centre management to help them make youth work an integral part of the centre’s weekly activities, rather than just an add on. Through out support there are now new members of the youth work team, all the team members were given some informal training and practical examples of how to run sessions safely. The centre management needed help with completing the review forms, which have been submitted and signed off by the YIF and the National Youth Agency. The work has now flourished and there is 40-50 young people in that area accessing the youth work sessions on a regular basis. Youth Work Trainees – We supported a group of 10 youth work trainees through their training. This involved weekly meetings with the trainees, helping them to navigate the training site, supporting them with their course work and helping them with problems and issues that they were encountering through their placement work. Six of the ten completed the course and passed and are now working in youth work settings across Torbay. Worked with Brixham Town Council to launch a new youth drop-in session for the young people of Brixham. The council had done some research amongst young people to discover their needs and the main need was somewhere safe to meet. The council asked us to partner with them to launch a space where young people could meet, which has now developed into a youth drop in space where over one hundred young people have engaged with positive activities. The council are keen to look at how we develop this work together, hopefully leading to a dedicated youth space within the town which is open every day. Working in a local secondary school to mentor some of their pupils who were at risk of permanent exclusion from the school. We ran weekly sessions with eight students who the school identified. We were able to help the school navigate some challenges and feed back some of the struggles that the young people were experiencing. Helped to plan and deliver a youth festival, alongside a local partnership called Imagine This. This day was aimed at beginning to change the negative press that young people receive and show the talents and skills that young people have and bring to the local community.

Acorn Centre – Consultation looked like regular meetings to determine the needs and solutions for the work. This was initially over a 4 months period which was extended twice, taking our work there to 16 months. We helped to develop a new model of youth work for the centre alongside mentoring and supervising their youth work team. The Acorn Centre commented “In a nutshell, it impacted us beyond belief, ensuring the cuture of our youth provisions.” Imagine This – Consultation looked like regular conversations with the co-ordinators to help determine some of the needs of the local community. Feedback from this network was around the need for more youth work experience in conversations around open access youth work across Torbay and the need for youth workers to be present in the community. We have joined several focus groups for this organisation to help bring some youth work expertise to the conversations. These focus groups are Safer Streets and More Spaces to Hang Out, which focus on how young people feel whilst out in the community and trying to develop more spaces where young people can gather safely with their peers. Brixham Town Council – Brixham Council approached us, having carried out some youth consultation work. The council wanted to develop a new youth work provision within the town and wanted a youth organisation to do that. Our consultation with the council was regular meetings with the Town Clerk and attending full council meetings. We made a plan for developing a regular drop in and presented this to the council, which they accepted and commissioned us to deliver. This was initially for a trial period, but we have recently had another year of funding confirmed and the council asking us for further consultation on how to develop a dedicated youth space within the town. Brixham Town Council have stated “Fuel Youth has delivered a youth provision in Brixham since June 2025, funded by the Council. This work has had a positive impact on local young people by providing a safe and accessible space. It addresses a previously unmet need for youth provision in Brixham. the need for young people in Brixham that was not available before. This provision enhances their wider work with young people where they have created a cohesive and supportive network.” Young people have fed back their enjoyment of the sessions and “wish that you could be open everyday.

There is a section in the accounts that highlight the directors renumeration received for this financial year of £14,558. All renumeration has been in relation to work carried out on behalf of the CIC with the directors invoicing for their time.
