During the year EVANI continued to represent electric vehicle users across Northern Ireland and work to accelerate the transition to lower-emission transport through evidence-led engagement, public awareness and policy advocacy. A major focus of activity was the publication and promotion of EVANI’s annual driver survey, which gathered insight into vehicle ownership, charging behaviour and barriers to adoption. This year’s findings highlighted continued growth in both the new and used electric vehicle markets and provided valuable evidence on changing consumer behaviour and increasing confidence in EV ownership. Survey findings were shared publicly and continue to inform discussions with government, industry and stakeholders. EVANI maintained a strong focus on charging infrastructure and continued engagement with charge point operators, departments and regulators to support the expansion and improvement of public charging provision. While Northern Ireland continues to lag behind the UK average in charger availability, significant progress has been achieved in recent years, particularly in rapid charging infrastructure. Public charging availability has increased substantially since 2022 and the company continued to support and scrutinise this growth through stakeholder engagement, data validation and public communication. The company also continued its long-running campaign to improve accessibility to EV ownership through cross-pavement charging solutions. Following sustained engagement over several years, the introduction of both temporary and engineered channel approaches was announced during the period, representing a significant step towards enabling many residents without off-street parking to access electric vehicle charging. EVANI continued to contribute to wider transport policy discussions and submitted evidence to consultations on Northern Ireland’s future transport strategy. The company welcomed increasing recognition within policy development that vehicle electrification will play a central role in achieving transport decarbonisation objectives and continued to advocate for practical, evidence-based implementation. The company also continued to raise awareness of structural issues affecting EV adoption, including future charging economics, smart meter capabilities and the need for a comprehensive long-term EV strategy for Northern Ireland
EVANI continued to engage extensively with stakeholders throughout the year including individual members, public bodies, elected representatives, charge point operators, transport and energy organisations, housing interests, regulators and media. Consultation took place through annual surveys, member feedback, public communications, meetings and formal consultation responses. This engagement enabled the company to identify priorities directly affecting EV users and ensure that lived experience informed policy and infrastructure discussions. EVANI continued to contribute data and evidence into wider decision-making processes including charging infrastructure reporting, transport consultations and discussions relating to accessibility and future network planning. The company’s engagement model ensures that members and the wider community continue to influence its priorities and activities.
