Salaam Peace is an award-winning, user-led community organisation that delivers sports and education programmes. The organisation aims to foster community, improve physical and mental wellbeing and inspire beneficiaries to “be the change in the community that they want to see”. Founded by Dr Sabir A Bham in 2009, Salaam Peace now delivers projects in Waltham Forest, Hackney, Haringey, Newham, Havering and Leicester. Our outreach programmes in Hackney, Waltham Forest and Haringey have been extremely effective. This work has always been extra important to me, as I have always seen firsthand the life-changing impact we can have on individuals and communities as a whole. The visit in the summer from the Mayor of London and his team validated Azi's hardwork on a number of GLA initiatives. The Kings Award showed our consistency in the sector and was a huge accolade for all of us: our partners, members and all associated with Salaam Peace. My team get tired of me saying this, but there is always more to do.”
