During the financial year, CultureWood CIC Ltd delivered a range of nature-based programmes designed to support wellbeing, environmental education, and community connection across North Hertfordshire. Activities included Forest School-inspired sessions for families, children, and adults; community wellbeing workshops; seasonal craft and bushcraft events; and the ongoing development of a community garden. These programmes promoted mental and physical health through time spent in nature, while also offering hands-on learning in sustainable living, gardening, and green skills. The community garden served as a hub for volunteering, intergenerational learning, and social connection, giving people the opportunity to grow food, learn practical skills, and feel a sense of ownership in their local environment. All activities were inclusive and low-cost, making them accessible to a wide range of participants, including individuals experiencing financial hardship or social isolation. The impact has been significant, with participants reporting improved mental wellbeing, stronger social connections, and increased confidence. Young people and adults alike gained new skills and experiences, and the organisation’s work supported the wider goals of environmental stewardship and community resilience.
CultureWood CIC’s stakeholders include session participants, schools, local residents, families, volunteers, partner organisations, and local authorities. We actively engage with our stakeholders through regular informal conversations, after- session discussions, open community meetings, and structured feedback tools such as surveys. Participant feedback is central to how we shape and improve our programmes. For example, feedback from parents led to the creation of more regular family sessions, while responses from adult participants prompted us to introduce new wellness- focused workshops. Volunteer input has helped us tailor roles that support both the individual’s interests and the needs of the wider community. The growth of our volunteer base is a key indicator of ongoing community engagement and support for our work. In response to requests for more involvement, we introduced new volunteering opportunities in the community garden, supporting both skills development and social connection. We are committed to continuing this responsive, collaborative approach, ensuring that our activities remain rooted in the needs and priorities of the communities we serve.
