Principal activities of the company

Principal Activities The principal activities of Illuminate Minds CIC during the reporting period were to provide mentoring, youth intervention, personal development, positive activities and community-based support for young people, families and vulnerable members of the community. The organisation delivered one-to-one mentoring, group workshops, sports and fitness sessions, outdoor therapy, knife crime awareness, emotional intelligence development, conflict resolution support and pathways-to-work activities. These activities were designed to improve confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, decision-making, leadership skills, wellbeing and community safety. Illuminate Minds CIC worked with young people who may be experiencing challenges such as low confidence, poor behaviour, negative peer pressure, risk of exclusion, involvement in violence, knife crime concerns, lack of positive role models, or limited access to safe activities. The CIC provided safe spaces, trusted adult support and structured programmes to help young people make positive choices and develop stronger futures. The organisation also engaged with parents, carers, schools, Children’s Services, West Midlands Police, youth services, youth club workers and community partners to understand local needs and deliver services that respond to the challenges faced by young people and families. Overall, the principal activities of Illuminate Minds CIC focused on early intervention, prevention, mentoring, youth empowerment, community safety, emotional wellbeing and creating positive opportunities for young people across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

Company activities and impact

Illuminate Minds CIC has impacted the community by supporting young people through mentoring, positive activities, sports, outdoor therapy, knife crime awareness and emotional intelligence development. The CIC works with young people who may be at risk of exclusion, violence, poor decision-making, low confidence or negative peer influence. Through trusted relationships, lived experience and structured programmes, Illuminate Minds CIC helps young people build confidence, resilience, discipline, emotional control and safer decision-making skills. The organisation also supports families, schools and community partners by providing early intervention, prevention work and positive opportunities that help reduce risk and create safer communities. Overall, Illuminate Minds CIC has helped young people feel valued, supported and motivated to make better choices for their future.

Consultation with stakeholders

lluminate Minds CIC has consulted with young people, parents, carers, schools, Children’s Services, West Midlands Police, youth services, youth club workers, community partners and local organisations throughout the year. Feedback was gathered through mentoring sessions, group discussions, workshops, sports activities, outdoor sessions, informal conversations and partnership meetings. Stakeholders highlighted the need for trusted role models, early intervention, safe spaces, emotional support, positive activities, knife crime prevention, conflict resolution, emotional regulation and confidence-building opportunities. This feedback has helped shape our mentoring, sports, outdoor therapy, emotional intelligence, knife crime awareness and pathways-to-work programmes, ensuring our services remain responsive to the needs of young people, families and the wider community.
