| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Taxation
Current taxes are based on the results shown in the financial statements and are calculated according to local tax rules, using tax rates enacted or substantially enacted by the balance sheet date.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.
Foreign currencies
a. Functional and presentation currency
Items included in the Company's financial statements are measured using the currency of the primary economic environment in which the entity operates (the "Functional currency"). The financial statements are presented in Pound Sterling, which is the Company's functional and presentation currency.
b. Transaction and balances
Foreign currency transactions are translated into the functional currency using the exchange rates prevailing at the dates of transactions. Foreign exchange gains and losses resulting from the settlement of such transactions and from the translation at year-end exchange rates of monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies are recognised in the statement of comprehensive income.
Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis even though the company shows net current liabilities of £171,739 in the balance sheet.
The ultimate controlling party has confirmed its intention to provide sufficient financial support to the company so as to enable it to meet its liabilities as they fall due and to enable it to carry on its business for the foreseeable future.
Consequently, the director concluded that the company has adequate resources to pay its liabilities as and when due for the foreseeable future. For these reasons, he continues to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the accounts.
Trade and other debtors
Trade and other debtors are initially recognised at the transaction price and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts except where the effect of discounting would be immaterial. In such cases, the debtors are stated at cost less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.
Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents are basic financial assets and include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities.
Trade and other creditors
Trade and other creditors are initially recognised at fair value and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the effect of discounting would be immaterial, in which case they are stated at cost.
Share capital
Ordinary shares are classified as equity.
