The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The objects of the charity are as follows:

1. To advance religion in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

2. To advance education, in particular, amongst women and young people.

3. To provide or assist in the provision of recreational and leisure facilities in the interest of social welfare and so that the quality of life of the residents in the area of benefit may be improved.

4. To encourage disaster appeals to help the needs of people around the world who have suffered through disaster.

5. To provide a safe and user-friendly environment for meditation, family counselling, parental guidance and daily prayers.

Public benefit

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission in determining the activities undertaken by the Charity.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

Religious Activities

Al-Ansar Islamic Education Centre continues to fulfil its charitable objects as a centre of worship, Islamic education and community welfare. The mosque remains the spiritual heart of the organisation, providing a structured programme of religious, educational and social activities that serve a broad and growing congregation.

Daily and Friday Prayers

The Centre receives in excess of 100 worshippers daily for the five obligatory prayers. Friday congregational prayers consistently attract more than 600 attendees each week. The Trustees are encouraged by the sustained growth in participation, which reflects the Centre's increasing significance as a place of worship and communal support within the local area.

Qur'an Memorisation (Hifdh)

The Hifdh programme continues to form a central pillar of the Centre's Islamic education provision. The programme supports both children and adults in their Qur'an memorisation journey, and the annual Qur'an Awards Ceremony was held during the year to formally recognise the progress and dedication of students and their families.

Islamic Education and Spiritual Development

During the year under review, the Centre delivered a broad programme of Islamic education and spiritual development activities. Initiatives included:

- A lecture series titled From the Prophetic Heritage, exploring Seerah and Hadith;

- Sisters' Tafsir classes covering Surah Al-Infitar, Surah At-Takwir and Surah Al-Buruj;

- Journey Through Allah's Names sessions providing structured study and reflection on the Divine Names;

- A Winter Conference centred on the themes and lessons of Surah An-Nur; and

- Ramadhan Preparation and Zakah workshops supporting attendees in maximising the spiritual and practical aspects of the blessed month.

All programmes attracted strong attendance and provided meaningful opportunities for learning and personal development across a wide range of age groups.

Youth Development and Engagement

The Trustees regard the development of young people as a strategic priority for the organisation.

Summer Energise Programme and Youth Camps

The Summer Energise Programme operated at full capacity during the reporting period, delivering a structured programme of educational, recreational and faith-based activities. Youth retreats and camping experiences provided participants with opportunities for personal development, leadership and the strengthening of social bonds through outdoor and faith-centred activities.

Football Academy

During the year, the Centre launched the Al-Ansar Football Academy, open to children aged 8 to 15. The Academy provides structured coaching within a positive environment, promoting teamwork, discipline and physical wellbeing, while supporting the broader social development of young participants. This has been a huge success and has a long waiting lost.

Girls' Youth Activities

The Girls' Youth Club continued to expand its provision and now offers a range of creative and developmental sessions, including clay modelling workshops, canvas painting, social evenings and weekly group activities. The programme has established a safe and welcoming environment in which young girls can build confidence, form meaningful friendships and develop a positive sense of identity.

Sports and Recreation

The Trustees recognise the importance of physical wellbeing as an integral component of holistic development. During the year:

- Weekly football sessions continued throughout the summer months;

- Jiu Jitsu classes remained well-attended across a wide age range; and

- Members of the Al-Ansar community participated in the annual Dragon Boat Race, progressing to the latter stages of the competition.

Community Programmes and Social Engagement

The Centre continued to deliver a programme of events and initiatives designed to strengthen community cohesion, address contemporary social challenges and create opportunities for learning and civic engagement.

Events and seminars held during the year included:

- Faith & Focus Palestine and Voices from Gaza awareness sessions;

- Prisoners and Humanitarian Awareness discussions;

- Navigating Faith in Education workshops for parents and young people;

- Sessions addressing the impact of digital devices and screen time on children's development; and

- The annual Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance programme, promoting historical awareness and social responsibility.

Eid in the Open

The annual Eid in the Open event brought together families and residents from across the wider community to celebrate Eid al-Adha, promoting interfaith and intercommunal goodwill and strengthening local relationships.

Umrah Trip

The Centre organised a community Umrah trip during the year, enabling participants to undertake this spiritual journey collectively while deepening both spiritual and social connections.

Precious Smiles Nursery

The Trustees are pleased to report the launch of Precious Smiles Nursery, a significant new initiative providing high-quality early years education and care rooted in Islamic values, in support of young children and families within the community.

Mother, Baby and Child Sessions

Weekly drop-in sessions for mothers, babies and young children continued throughout term time, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for parents and carers to access guidance, friendship and practical support.

Father and Son Retreats

Seasonal Father and Son camping retreats were delivered during the year, providing structured opportunities for intergenerational bonding, reflection and personal development through faith-based and outdoor activities.

Charitable Support and Community Welfare

The Centre's charitable activities extended support to vulnerable individuals and families through a number of initiatives, including:

- Ramadhan fundraising campaigns conducted in partnership with established humanitarian organisations;

- A Sponsor a Child scheme enabling families experiencing financial hardship to access the Centre's educational programmes; and

- Direct financial and practical assistance provided to individuals facing personal difficulty.

Chapters Food Bank

The Chapters Food Bank, operated in partnership with Serving Humanity, continues to provide an essential service to the local community, supporting between 35 and 50 households each week. Home delivery services are maintained for beneficiaries with mobility or medical needs.

Those supported include refugees and asylum seekers, low-income households, students, victims of domestic abuse, and individuals experiencing unemployment or financial hardship. Approximately two tonnes of food are distributed each month. Referrals are received from local authorities, healthcare providers and third-sector organisations, reflecting the confidence placed in the service by statutory and voluntary partners alike.

Governance and Operational Development

The Centre's financial sustainability has been supported by regular Friday collections, ongoing donor contributions and increased fundraising activity during Ramadhan. These income streams have collectively enabled the organisation to sustain and expand its programme of activities.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial position

During the year, total incoming resources amounted to £181,238 (2024: £166,083) and total expenditure incurred were £147,696 (2024: £120,832). Main income was in the form of regular donations from the members of public. Expenditure in the year were mainly attributed to the running costs of the Mosque.

As a result, the charity achieved a net incoming resources of £33,542 (2024: £45,251) which further led to general reserves carried forward as at 30th Sept 2025 as £1,652,711 (2024: £1,607,117) and restricted reserves of £5,858 (2024: £17,910). Total reserves as at 30th September 2025 were £1,658,569 (2024: £1,625,027).

The trustees are satisfied with the charity's overall financial position.

Investment powers and policy

Under its Memorandum of Association, the charity has power to invest in any way the trustees wish.

Reserves policy

The trustees have established the level of reserves (that is those funds that are freely available) that the charity ought to have. Reserves are needed to bridge the funding gaps between spending on activities and receiving resources through voluntary grants. The trustees consider that the ideal level of reserves as at 30 September 2025 would be three months of resources expended which equates to £29,923.

The trustees are actively pursuing sources of funding in order to ensure that there are sufficient reserves to provide for financial stability and flexibility.

FUTURE PLANS

The Trustees remain committed to ensuring that Al-Ansar IEC continues to fulfil its charitable objects as a centre of faith, education and community service. In the coming year, the organisation intends to develop further opportunities in the areas of worship, Islamic education, youth engagement and social welfare, while upholding the values and principles upon which the Centre was established.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Governing document

Al-Ansar Islamic Education Centre is a company limited by guarantee without share capital, incorporated on 19 October 2000 and registered with the Charity Commission on 30 April 2001.

The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of the charitable company and is governed under its Articles of Association.

Recruitment and appointment of trustees

The existing trustees are responsible for the recruitment of new trustees but in so doing the trustees seek the views and recommendations of both elders and community leaders. In selecting new trustees, we seek to identify people who regularly attend events and functions organised by the charity and are willing to volunteer to help in our broader community work. Potential trustees are invited to attend trustees' meetings as observers and are given more details of the charity's aims and activities and, if all agree, they are then proposed as new trustees at the subsequent trustees' meeting. This process allows due consideration of the person's eligibility, personal competence, specialist knowledge and skills.

Organisational structure

The charity trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits. The trustees meet together as a body monthly and are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to running the Mosque and the community facilities and the activities provided by the charity. To assist in the smooth running of the charity the trustees have set up a number of sub-committees that help them oversee certain aspects of the charity's work.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Al-Ansar Islamic Education Centre ('the Company')

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 30 September 2025.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried out under Section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act'). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:

1.	accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by Section 386 of the 2006 Act; or

2.	the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3.	the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of Section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

4.

the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The charitable company is entitled to exemption from audit under Section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 for the year ended 30 September 2025.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year ended 30 September 2025 in accordance with Section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for

(a)	ensuring that the charitable company keeps accounting records that comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and

(b)

preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company as at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the charitable company.

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to charitable companies subject to the small companies regime.

1.	ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

The charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note(s).

Going Concern

The Trustees confirm they have sufficient income to continue in operation for the next twelve months. It is for these reasons, the accounts have been prepared on a going concern basis.

Income

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

The following specific policies are applied to a particular categories of income:

Voluntary income received, by way of donations and gifts, is included in the SOFA in full when receivable. Intangible income is recognised as an income resource when the provider of the services has incurred a financial cost. Volunteer time is not included in the statement.

Donated goods, services and facilities

Donated services or facilities are recognised as income when the charity has control over the item, any conditions associated with the donated item have been met, the receipt of economic benefit from the use by the charity of the item is probable and that economic benefit can be measured reliably.On receipt, donated services and facilities are recognised on the basis of the value of the gift to the charity which is the amount the charity would have been willing to pay to obtain services or facilities of equivalent economic benefit on the open market; a corresponding amount is then recognised in expenditure in the period of receipt.

Expenditure

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.

Taxation

The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.

Included in creditors are Qardh Hassana loans. These are short term interest free loans from the community and charity supporters.
