Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Food Troops CIC continued to improve food security, wellbeing, and environmental sustainability across Cornwall. Through its community kitchen, garden, food redistribution projects, educational workshops, and mobile catering services, the company rescued surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste and redistributed it to local families, community groups, and individuals experiencing hardship. The company delivered cooking, growing, food waste, and nature-based learning activities that helped people develop practical skills, improve confidence around healthy eating, and strengthen community connections. These activities contributed to reduced food waste, increased access to nutritious food, improved well-being, and greater engagement with local food growing and environmental sustainability.

Feedback consistently highlighted the importance of affordable food provision, opportunities to learn practical food and gardening skills, and the value of welcoming community spaces.
