  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services, including shelf rental where the company acts as an agent on behalf of a third party for the sale of that third party's goods. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

Company activities and impact

This year we received a grant for security cameras enabling us to keep our stock and volunteers safer. Alongside Navigo, we now work with Danielle who runs Refresh and Wellbeing. Danielle runs sessions in the observatory. We also invested in the Frenchic paint franchise which was already tried and tested in the store previously. The paint will boost our sales and enable us to paint furniture up to sell. The company continued to run the craft and gift shop as its principal business, promoting micro businesses to sell their products.
