This year has seen Bath Art Depot (BAD) settle into its new base at Form-ICA in Lymore Gardens. We held the first Open Studio event and Yard Party at Form-ICA in partnership with Perfect Space and Outline Studios. Refreshments were provided by Jim’s Pizza van, Electric Bear- a local micro-brewery based in Bath, and Harth Chocolate. The event was attended by approx. 200 people mostly from the local neighbourhood and helped cement our reputation within the local community. As a result of the event’s popularity and requests from the local community, we agreed to run similar events twice every year. Following on from the success of our last Free community events: Capture: Doing Time, and Henk Schut, we held an Artist Talk with Will Hughes at Form-ICA on the 06 December 2024. Will Hughes is a multi-disciplinary artist with local connections in Bath. They are also a freelance project manger working for Middlesbrough Art Week and The Auxiliary, and they are an advocate for artists at a regional level. This was a free public event with a question-and-answer session at the end, and was attended by 48 people. BAD held five meetings over the year. The minutes are available to view. At the February 2025 meeting, we decided to invite new members to BAD to widen our scope as a team and help develop our events and talks programme. New members include: Poppy Clover – Collection Registrar for The Roberts Institute of Art, Layla Gatens – Senior Curator at the Wilson Art Gallery and Museum, Bridget de Leon, a local Curator and Art advisor based in Bath, Dominic McKeown, artist and technician based in Bath, Matt Page – local artist, and Eleanor Sangara – Engagement Producer at Arnolfini, Bristol. BAD members Matt Page and Dominic McKeown curated Invisible Foundations, an exhibition of eleven local artists at Form-ICA. The exhibition ran from 24 May till 7 June 2025 as part of the Fringe Arts Bath festival. We held our second Open Studio event and Yard Party on the 31 May. This was attended by over 300 people with refreshments provided by our partners Electric Bear and Vherbal Kitchen. Attendance and popularity for these events is growing with each successive event, helping to secure our reputation with local residents and within the wider arts community in Bath. Bath Art Depot CIC Stakeholders are the communities around Oldfied Park, Twerton and the creative individuals/organisations that live and work in Bath. The directors are made up of artists, educators and architects who live in Bath and the local area. Since forming a CIC in late 2020 Bath Art Depot CIC have begun conversations with these communities surrounding the proposed site for a contemporary arts venue through events including litter picks and soup kitchens, and walks. Bath Art Depot CIC have been in dialogue with the local universities and education establishments. We have used these dialogues as the basis for funding applications and applications for research fellowships. We received a WEVAA Research Fellowship in 2022 to host five chapters/events in Bath which engaged the local communities and local artists. Since the autumn of 2023, we have been based at a new studio space in Bath, Form-ICA and have continued our series of free access community events. This year, We also often jointly host events with Outline Studios and Perfect Space. Additionlly, we have formed links/partnerships with The Holburne Museum in Bath and Visual Arts South West.
