Xl Centre CIC is a social enterprise with the following aims and objectives. Providing benefit to: Young people and adults in areas of socio/economic disadvantage and deprivation located in Wales and England, requiring vocational training, physical activities, work experience and employment opportunities, particularly in the mediums of dance and sport. XL Centre’s activities will also provide benefits through offering vocational, citizenship and life skills education, so as to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and heritage. Our operation has primarily focussed on research and development, to assist with our fund raising strategy, and working on our future service offer for generating new revenue streams for sustainability. We have been consulting with the creative, tourism and hospitality sector to identify the gaps where our services can be of value. Community benefits derived from this activity have been an increase in volunteering, signposting to training via new local opportunities, work experience and apprenticeship openings being offered through our network. We are now concentrating on developing our skills building programmes and supporting young adults, via mentoring and coaching, as they transition from full time education to the labour market.
Stakeholders include the Denbighshire local authority commissioning team, public health services, local voluntary sector services council, and funder organisations who align with our aims and objectives. We have held exploration meetings with some of these stakeholders to inform of developments with new project ideas and services we are considering to offer the local community. This has helped form a view as to where investment is most likely to be spent, and to establish what aspects of our business fits with future planning across the county.
