COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

FOLKEY BIRTH CLUB CIC

Company Number: 15746340 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 May 2026

Company activities and impact

Folkey Birth Club has continued to democratise high quality specialised support and nurture a growing community of local pregnant people and those in their early months after birth. Through a combination of funding, local donations and volunteer effort we have facilitated: A free-to-attend monthly Postnatal Circle. A gathering for 15-20 participants, offering community support, and expert guidance from guest specialists. Two free-to-attend Birth Circles per month. A pregnancy and birth related support group for 20+ participants, offering peer support, a local birth story, and Q&A. A free-to-attend monthly Pregnancy Nourishment Circle. A bring-and-share brunch meet up for local pregnant women to build community, spend time nurturing themselves, and focus on themselves and their pregnancies. A moderated WhatsApp community of local new mothers and mothers-to-be to offer continuous peer support for all pregnancy, birth, postpartum and newborn questions.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have used feedback forms and surveys and in person feedback consultations and through this have been pleasantly assured that our work continues to meet the needs and expectations of the community, with 100% of responses saying we'd had a 'very positive' or 'positive' impact on their pregnancy experience. We have had mixed feedback on our move to a community building from our homes to host all events, with some regretting the at loss of the at home feeling, and others praising the improved accessibility and approachability. We receive and respond to email enquiries and have ascertained that an offering that we have paused due to lack of funding is our most requested, so are prioritising acquiring funding for that. We have used these feedback streams to shape our continued development and inform our funding strategy. We continue to consult with our community representatives when making decisions (for example about how we spend donations). Social media and our WhatsApp group allow quick and responsive adaptations to our community's needs, attendance questions etc.
