In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Black Men Teach CIC exists to increase the representation of Black men in education and support black boys to thrive in education as well as supporting educators, young people and communities through mentoring, professional development and community engagement initiatives. During the reporting period the organisation delivered a range of programmes and activities designed to strengthen educator wellbeing, build professional networks and support young people with positive role models and opportunities to thrive in education. Connect Calls: Black Men Teach hosted regular online “Connect Calls” which provided educators with a safe and supportive space to connect, share experiences and discuss challenges within the profession. These sessions encouraged peer support, collaboration and professional reflection. The calls enabled educators to access informal mentoring, exchange ideas and build stronger professional networks across the education sector. BMT Wellbeing Retreat: The BMT Wellbeing Retreat supported over 20 educators by creating a dedicated space for educators to step away from the demands of their roles, focus on their wellbeing and recharge. The retreat combined wellbeing activities with practical professional development sessions designed to support educators in their roles. Participants were able to reflect on their practice, develop new strategies to support their wellbeing and build stronger professional relationships with peers from across the education sector. A Black Boys Community (ABBC): ABBC initiative aims to connect Black boys and their parents with educators and community leaders in order to address negative stereotypes, strengthen relationships between families and schools, and empower young people. The initiative provides opportunities for discussion, guidance and support to help parents and young people better understand school systems, build confidence and access positive role models. Through these activities the programme helps equip families with knowledge, support networks and resources that contribute to improved educational engagement and outcomes. School CPD and Workshops: Black Men Teach CIC delivered Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions and workshops to schools and educational organisations. These sessions focused on representation in education, mentoring, leadership pathways and strategies to support young people from diverse backgrounds. Through this work the organisation supports schools to develop inclusive practices, improve staff awareness and create environments where all students can thrive. Community Group Chat: A community group chat was maintained to support members of the Black Men Teach network. This platform provides an active space for educators to share opportunities, professional advice and resources. The group enables ongoing peer support and helps strengthen the wider community of educators connected to the organisation. Bridge Mentoring Project: The Bridge Mentoring Project is a free online mentoring programme designed to support young people from Year 10 to Year 13. The programme provides students with academic support, pastoral mentoring and personal development guidance. Mentors support participants in building confidence, developing soft skills and increasing their cultural capital. The programme also organised enrichment activities including theatre trips and social events such as bowling to create opportunities for young people to build relationships, experience new environments and develop a stronger sense of community. Through these programmes and initiatives, Black Men Teach CIC has supported educators, young people and families by strengthening networks, increasing access to mentoring and providing positive role models within education and the wider community.
