During the financial year, our organisation supported migrant and minority families across Nottingham through educational, cultural, and wellbeing activities that promote inclusion, confidence, and community participation. Our Arabic language and GCSE Arabic classes helped children and young people develop language skills, maintain their cultural heritage, and work towards recognised qualifications. Weekend culture and art activities encouraged creativity, confidence, and positive social interaction. Community trips and events enabled families to engage with local cultural and educational venues, including visits to Broadway Cinema, New Art Exchange, Nottingham Playhouse, and Nottingham Arkwright Community Gardens. These experiences increased participants' sense of belonging, broadened their understanding of local opportunities, and encouraged active participation in community life. Women's English conversation and empowerment classes improved communication skills, confidence, and access to local services, while wellbeing activities helped reduce social isolation. We also provided volunteering and work experience opportunities for Nottingham Trent University students and local school pupils completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Approximately 30% of participants arrived through government resettlement schemes, and our activities have strengthened social networks, promoted integration, and increased community cohesion.

Our activities are developed through ongoing consultation with participants, families, volunteers, community partners, and our advisory group. The programme builds on feedback from previous activities, including Arabic language and GCSE classes, children's weekend sessions, women's conversation classes, and community outings to venues such as Broadway Cinema and New Art Exchange. Participants highlighted the importance of opportunities that support cultural identity, language development, social connection, educational attainment, and integration. These priorities directly informed programme design. Our advisory group includes representatives from the University of Nottingham, NHS professionals, volunteers, and participating parents, providing both professional expertise and lived experience. We also seek input from volunteers, including Nottingham Trent University placement students and Duke of Edinburgh participants, as well as local schools and community organisations. This collaborative approach ensures our activities remain community-led, inclusive, and responsive to local needs.
