The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 October 2025

Principal activities of the company

The principal activity of the company is the provision of facilities for and the promotion of participation in the amateur sport of angling.

Political and charitable donations

There were no political or charitable donations made in the period covered by the financial statements.

Additional information

INCORPORATION The company, incorporated on 29th October 2008, is limited by guarantee and is formed on a not-for-profit basis. MEMBERS AND MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Membership is renewed annually and fluctuates. At 31st October 2025 there were 197 members (159 previous year), of whom 10 are Life Members, 56 were concessionary OAP and/or disabled members (56 previous year), 67 were concessionary junior / student members (40 previous year) and 64 were full adult members (53 previous year). The company is managed by a Management Committee of 15 to 20 members, appointed by the members at the AGM. Three members of the Management Committee are appointed Directors and act as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. DIRECTORS The Secretary (RH Lockyer) and Treasurer (PM Jones) served throughout the year. Chairman D Williams stood down on 9th December 2024 and was replaced by M Hughes. INDEMNITY The company's Articles of Association indemnify any Director or other Member or Auditor acting on behalf of the Society with the authority of the Management Committee against certain liabilities. In the opinion of the Directors this is a "qualifying third party indemnity provision" for the purposes of Section 236 of the Companies Act 2006. SMALL COMPANY SPECIAL PROVISIONS This report has been prepared in accordance with the special provisions in Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

Balance sheet statements

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover represents the value of membership subscriptions and the proceeds of membership activities.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are shown at cost or, where acquired at unrealistically low cost, at their market value at the time of acquisition. Boats are expected to hold their value and will only be depreciated if, in the opinion of the Directors, they lose value unexpectedly.

    Intangible fixed assets amortisation policy

    Intangible fixed assets (fishing rights) are shown at cost. Like land, they are expected to appreciate in value. They will not be depreciated, unless unforeseen events make that necessary. They will only be revalued, if disposed of.

Fishing rights acquired free of charge at the time of incorporation from Pontardawe and Swansea Angling Society (acquired by them between 1966 and 2000) are shown at the cost to that Society (£13,000) in accordance with section 139 of the Taxation of Capital Gains Act 1992. Fishing rights acquired by the company since incorporation (£16,000) are shown at cost to the company.

In the opinion of the Directors the current market values of the boats equal their cost (Mk II) / market value (Mk III) at the time of acquisition. In line with the company’s accounting policy no depreciation has been charged on the boats in this year.
