Bumps To Yummies provides postnatal support for Mothers or birthing people and vulnerable teenagers after they have been discharged from community midwifery care. The company started in January 2023. During the financial year 2025 - 2026, Bumps To Yummies (BTY) CIC activities have benefited the community in the following ways: - Cultural outreach workshops with culturally specific or sensitive groups - One-on-one parent education sessions which were women-led - Wellbeing drive with antenatal or newborn baby packs - Sourced new venue and provided hybrid antenatal and postnatal wellbeing workshops - We had a community event with experts addressing the needs of the local population on OASI injuries (severe perineal injuries), the long-term impact of OASI injuries and treatment, and the importance of education around it so mothers can advocate for themselves. Experts of this topic who was also able to share the lived experiences. There were also experts addressing the needs of healthy lifestyle in particular healthy diet to address high rates of gestational diabetes and on health literacy. - BTY worked with the Newham Community Project providing antenatal and postnatal wellbeing workshops in the local community.
The company’s stakeholders are residents or visitors in Newham Borough who had their babies. The directors of the company have lived in the borough for a number of years and had their children in the local hospital developed the business model for the company based on their lived experience and by talking to other residents through their profession as midwives. We ask everyone accessing our services for feedback about their needs during the transformative journey. This has helped us to build up a profile of needs and what we can do to support them more effectively and improve on their psychological wellbeing. And because we asked for feedback we used the information gained to tailor the content of the sessions to be beneficial to the women/ birthing people. Our research has enabled us to identify the need to extend our services to other boroughs the pre-conceptive stage, by educating mothers/ birthing people in preparing for their next pregnancy. We encourage mothers/ birthing people and the local community to share ideas for the business of how we continue to make an impact in the community.
