Company activities and impact

During the 2025 financial year, Fresh Skillz CIC continued its mission to empower young people and strengthen the local community through creative arts, music, dance, education and community engagement. Based in Stockport, we provided a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where children, young people and families could develop new skills, improve their confidence and build positive relationships. Our core activities included delivering regular Breaking (Breakdance) classes, DJ and music workshops, community events and creative engagement programmes. We worked with children and young people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those facing social, economic and personal barriers, ensuring that our activities remained affordable or free whenever possible. A major achievement during the year was the successful delivery of our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme in partnership with Stockport Council. This programme provided free Breaking and DJ workshops alongside healthy meals during the school holidays, helping young people stay active, learn new creative skills and socialise in a safe environment while supporting families during holiday periods. We also expanded our music provision by introducing DJ workshops using professional equipment, giving young people practical experience in beat matching, rhythm, scratching and music production. These sessions encouraged creativity, teamwork and self-expression while introducing participants to potential career pathways within the creative industries. Throughout the year, Fresh Skillz CIC collaborated with local organisations, schools, youth services and community partners to increase access to creative opportunities. We delivered performances, workshops and community engagement activities at festivals, cultural events and local initiatives, helping to promote diversity, cultural understanding and community cohesion. Our programmes have had a significant positive impact by improving participants' confidence, physical health, creativity, teamwork, discipline and resilience. Many young people developed new friendships, improved their communication skills and became more engaged in positive activities outside of school. Fresh Skillz CIC also continued to create volunteering opportunities, support local artists and provide a welcoming community hub where people of different ages and backgrounds could come together through music, dance and culture. Through all of our activities, Fresh Skillz CIC has remained committed to reducing social isolation, promoting healthier lifestyles, increasing access to arts and culture, and creating positive opportunities that help individuals reach their full potential while strengthening the wider Stockport communit

Consultation with stakeholders

Fresh Skillz CIC regularly consults with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that our activities continue to meet the needs of the local community. Our key stakeholders include: 1 Children and young people participating in our programmes. 2 Parents and carers. 3 Local schools and youth organisations. 4 Stockport Council. 5 Community partners and funding organisations. 6 Volunteers, tutors and activity leaders. Consultation takes place through informal conversations, participant and parent feedback, registration forms, questionnaires, social media engagement and discussions with partner organisations and local authority representatives. The feedback received has been extremely valuable and has directly influenced the development of our programmes. Young people expressed an interest in learning music alongside dance, which led to the introduction of DJ workshops using professional equipment. Parents requested additional holiday activities, resulting in the expansion of our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) provision. Feedback also highlighted the importance of providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where young people could develop confidence, make friends and learn new skills. We have continued to adapt our activities based on stakeholder feedback by improving session content, increasing opportunities for creative learning, enhancing safeguarding procedures, providing healthy food during holiday programmes and developing new partnerships to increase access to our services. Fresh Skillz CIC remains committed to listening to its stakeholders and using their feedback to improve the quality, accessibility and impact of its activities, ensuring that our services continue to deliver meaningful benefits to the communities we serve.
