Sense of the Herd CIC was established to promote mindful learning, wellbeing and community engagement through meaningful interactions with animals and nature. During this first financial period, the Company moved from an initial dormant phase into its establishment phase. The directors focused on creating the foundations necessary to deliver long-term community benefit. Activities during the year included the acquisition of equipment and resources, development of suitable facilities, establishment of governance and operational procedures, obtaining appropriate insurance and professional support, and engaging with volunteers, supporters and members of the local community. Although income during the period was limited, significant investment was made by the directors to ensure the organisation was established on a sustainable basis. The activities undertaken during the year have benefited the community by: creating the infrastructure required to deliver mindful learning programmes and wellbeing activities; establishing facilities where people can engage safely with animals in a supportive environment; developing an organisation committed to promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and personal development; building relationships with volunteers and local supporters to encourage future community participation; and laying the foundations for future educational, therapeutic and community-based programmes. The directors believe that the work undertaken during the period represents an investment in the Company's future ability to deliver lasting community benefit.
The Company's stakeholders include participants, volunteers, supporters, local residents, community organisations, schools, healthcare professionals, donors and others with an interest in improving wellbeing through mindful learning and animal-assisted activities. Throughout the establishment period the directors have actively engaged with supporters, volunteers and members of the local community to understand local needs and to shape the development of the Company's activities. Feedback has been obtained through informal discussions, meetings, community engagement and ongoing dialogue with those interested in supporting or participating in the Company's activities. The information gathered has influenced the Company's future plans, including the development of facilities, the design of mindful learning programmes and the identification of opportunities to work collaboratively with other organisations to maximise community benefit.
