Income is measured at the fair value of consideration received or receivable and represents grant funding, trading income and other receipts generated in furtherance of the company's objectives.
Grant Income
Grant income comprises funding received from grant-making bodies, public sector organisations, charitable foundations and other funding partners to support the company's programme of grant distribution and community development activities.
Restricted grant income is recognised when the company becomes entitled to the funding, receipt is probable and the amount can be measured reliably.
Where restricted grant income has not been distributed to eligible community enterprises or applied to the purposes specified by the funder by the balance sheet date, the unspent amount is recognised as deferred income within creditors and carried forward for application in future accounting periods in accordance with the terms and conditions of the funding agreement.
Trading Income
Trading income comprises income generated from events, sponsorship, training, consultancy, programme participation fees and other activities undertaken in support of the company's objectives. Trading income is recognised when the relevant goods or services have been provided and the amount receivable can be measured reliably.
Distribution Costs
Distribution costs comprise grants awarded to community enterprises, programme beneficiaries and partner organisations in furtherance of the company's objectives, together with direct costs incurred in administering, monitoring and supporting funded programmes.
Grant expenditure is recognised when the company has a legal or constructive obligation to make the award, the recipient has been notified and the amount of the commitment can be measured reliably.
Programme support costs include project management, administration, professional services, outreach, communications, website costs and other direct expenditure incurred in the delivery and oversight of funded activities.
